It has been described as Dragons’ Den meets YouTube and it connects businesses with investors. It’s www.cmypitch.ie and most of it seems to be free!
This new website has been set up by partners Bank of Scotland (Ireland), Deloitte, The Irish Times, Microsoft BizSpark and William Fry to open up access to investors.
Businesses can upload their pitch on video to be viewed by investors. The site also helps entrepreneurs to become “investor ready” by watching clips from Eddie Jordan, Ray Nolan, Doug Richard and James Caan or by reading the downloadable “how to” guides. Only 1% to 2% of applicants to business angels, seed funds and venture capitalists get funding so anything which can increase the chances is welcome.
There will also be cmypitch Live events; the first will be held in Dublin in September 2009. This will enable up to 10 entrepreneurs to pitch to a room full of investors for 3 minutes each. Three panellists will provide feedback to each pitcher.
For investors, pitches can be filtered by investment, intermediary, sector and rating. They can find out how to improve their business angel skills and RSS feeds can be set up to alert investors of new pitches which match their interests.
An intermediary (e.g. corporate finance firm, accountancy firm, business angel network) can apply to create their own “funding portal” on cmypitch.ie, where they can showcase dealflow. Hogan & Associates and Hughes Blake are already on there.
