It’s our third anniversary of starting our own business in Ireland!  To celebrate, we are launching a new service which has been “on the boil” for a few months.

Is your business suffering from a lack of customers?  You can find NEW customers through social media.  The “big three” are LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, but there are others which may be well suited to your business.

Kiely & Associates can take you through the three stages of your social media marketing campaign: research and planning, set-up and implementation, and management.  You can choose whichever service you need from our shopping list, whether it’s guiding you through the whole process, improving the LinkedIn profile or Facebook fan page you have already set up, or providing regular content and managing your online presence.   You can tell us what YOU need and we will tailor our service to suit you.

Are you curious to know how social media marketing can increase your profits?  Call or text Anne Kiely NOW on 085 7163762.

Are you already on LinkedIn but don’t know how to improve your profile and gain new contacts?  Or maybe you just don’t have the time to do it.  As a special opening offer, we will review your LinkedIn page and send you a report on how to build it and connect with more people, for ONLY €57.  This offer is time-limited – it will finish on 30th April 2010.   Call Anne, or e-mail kielyassocs@gmail.com

Five Critical Elements to an Effective Collaboration

Thank you to A Michelle Blakely for giving permission for this article to be used here:

5 critical elements to an effective collaboration

Successful businesses are built on collaborations: functional collaborations. No business can survive without establishing and developing powerful relationships with like-minded business owners. Even the most marketable products and services need outside forces and influences to reach their target market and achieve optimum sales results. However, there is a method to developing effective collaborations. You simply cannot connect, partner and venture into business with any business. Whether you are a solopreneur or have a small staff, your ability to effectively create collaborations is crucial to your business success. You need to know who to connect with, what value you each bring to the table, what are the terms and how will you keep the communication lines open.

Here are 5 ways to ensure your collaborations are effective and meaningful:

1. Power partner: Select business owners who have products or services that complement yours and have the client base you are looking for. Their mindset, motivations, visions and business practices should also be compatible with yours. Don’t be afraid to approach someone who is already at your next level. If your product or service is strong enough, it could be an opportunity for you to expand.

2. Determine the value and incentives: know what you can and can’t bring to the table. Know what is expected of you and what you expect of your partner(s). Determine the benefits of the collaboration and are they aligned with your values. Never sacrifice the integrity of your business for a sale.

3. Spell it out in black and white: collaborations really should be in writing. Having your terms and agreement in writing will help eliminate any misunderstandings or miscommunications. Knowing who is responsible for what will set the boundaries of your relationship.

4. Client sharing and management (follow-up): you want to expand your client base while maintaining your identity. Remain separate, but equal. How are referrals handled? What is the process for contacting referrals? Is there a referral fee involved? It’s okay to share client databases; but be sure you have an established follow-up system for handling each other’s clients. Your clients should receive and expect the same quality and level of service from your partner.

5. Communication: be sure to schedule regular meetings to review your collaborative relationships, make necessary adjustments and outline growth strategies. It’s important to remember that in collaborations, your partner’s success depends on your success and vice versa. Having a formal collaborative partnership could make all the difference for your business. No business owner is an island. Savvy business owners and entrepreneurs know when to ask for help and know how to leverage their product or services.

A Capital Woman talks to Kerry Businesswomen

Ellen Gunning, author of “Capital Women of Influence” and Director of the Irish Academy of Public Relations will be visiting Kerry on Thursday 4th February to share tips and stories with the Kerry Businesswomen’s Network.  Her topic is “You CAN be a woman of influence”.  The meeting is at the Meadowlands Hotel in Tralee, starting at 7 pm (registration from 6.30 pm).

Ellen is a journalist, broadcaster and PR Consultant who presents the “Mediascope” programme each week on 103.2 Dublin City FM.  In summer last year she also presented and produced the 13-week “Capital Women of Influence” series:

“I woke up one morning and thought – that’s what I’d love to do, I’d love to interview successful, influential women.  I began some research and the more I learned, the more fascinated I became.  I then decided that there was a book in it too, and The Liffey Press agreed!” Ellen explains.

Ellen is also author of “Public Relations – a practical approach” and has served as a government-appointed Director of the National Concert Hall and the Central Council of the Irish Red Cross.

Tea and coffee will be available from 6.30 pm, and participants will be able to enjoy opportunities for networking before and after the presentation.  The event is free to members, and guests are also welcome to attend.  Booking is essential (contact Anne Kiely on 085 7163762 or kielyassocs@gmail.com).

Kerry Businesswomen’s Network was launched in July 2009 and already has 75 members.  The main networking events are usually on the first Thursday of the month but additional events and workshops are also arranged.  For further information and membership details, visit www.kerrybusinesswomen.com or contact Anne Kiely, Kiely & Associates (085 7163762 or kielyassocs@gmail.com).

Sixteen members of Kerry Businesswomen’s Network spent a wonderful evening and overnight on Friday 13th November at the beautiful Parknasilla Resort & Spa near Sneem on the Ring of Kerry.  A lovely dinner and the elegant and comfortable rooms were just the start… the staff were great and we really enjoyed the spa treatment on the Saturday morning.  For some of us that was our first experience of a spa treatment and we will definitely be back for more!  I’m booking a weekend in April – with my husband this time!

Skelligs Chocolate Man

A big thank you to Colm Healy of Skelligs Chocolate Company who gave a great talk at last night’s Kerry Enterprise Network (County Enterprise Board) meeting at the Killarney Park Hotel.  He was inspiring, interesting, innovative …. and he brought samples of the wonderful chocolate made in beautiful St Finian’s Bay in South Kerry.  I will definitely be buying more!
